This year we’ll achieve a number of milestones at ASCnet. Each reflects a deep level of commitment on the part of staff, volunteers, members and business partners. Such dedication is the cornerstone of our association’s theme for the year: Commit, Connect, Prosper.
In 2010, we mark 25 years of users helping users—something made possible by the clear vision and tireless leadership of hundreds upon hundreds of dedicated volunteers who have given of themselves and their knowledge over the past quarter-century.
This September, we’ll come together in Chicago to officially celebrate ASCnet’s Silver Anniversary at TENCon 2010. The commitment of our staff, committees and volunteers will surely make this an event like no other—one you cannot afford to miss and one you’re certain to remember for years to come.
TENCon is made possible, of course, by the generous commitment of Applied Systems and our other ASCnet partners, who recognize the value our organization brings to members and the industry as a whole. Their involvement allows us to bring you top-notch education offerings, a robust TENCon Exchange and, of course, stellar networking opportunities.
Another milestone is ASCnet’s headquarters move from Orlando to Chicago. This strategic change will increase visibility and access to our offices and improve collaboration with Applied Systems. It will position us for growth and it reflects your board’s commitment to make ASCnet a vibrant and valuable part of your agency’s success for years to come.
In addition, we’ll welcome a new CEO in June. Your association board members have been working hard over the past several months to identify the individual best suited to lead ASCnet forward.
Finally, we’ll introduce by mid-year your new online ASCnet community. More than just a newsgroup replacement, this advanced platform will provide a hub or home for all ASCnet information and communication. Truly, it will be a “community” made up of agency members, chapters, committees and business partners that serves as a foundation of what makes our association so great – Users helping Users.
Of course, in the midst of these milestones, it’s business as usual. We’ll continue to deliver highly rated education offerings—online, through chapters, at our
As board chair, I’m indebted to a number of individuals and groups whose commitment made it possible to achieve these milestones, and to deliver everything else ASCnet offers members, for that matter. These include fellow board members, staff—including Interim CEO Rick Morgan, our chapter leaders and committee members, and our various business partners, including Applied Systems. I thank you all.
I also thank our members, who value what we offer enough to commit their resources to support ASCnet and to help us grow. More than thank you, though, I challenge you. Commit—or recommit—to your business and its success, to your personal development, to coworkers, to clients, to your local communities, to the industry and, of course, to ASCnet.
Then take things one step further. Don’t just commit. Connect, as well. Build friendships. Offer assistance. Learn and share. Get involved. As someone who’s done just that, I must tell you it’s quite rewarding, and it’s certainly helped me and my agency prosper.
