Looking at digital welcome/info centers. A few questions beyond simply using a computer with it....
- Do LCD/Plasma displays have the capability of interfacing with a network cable rather than video cable? This would allow farther separation between a computer and the display.
- What’s available (and reliable) for self-contained units? A friend has a display with AppleTV HD attached and they can send some content through the network, either wirelessly or through a network cable. But they run an Apple network. Are there similar units for PC-based networks (though I might consider an Apple unit)? Running PowerPoint would be one desire, but also some other interactive programming possibly, such as a calendar system.

We use a 37” LCD hooked up to an older laptop running PowerPoint. We can control it via LogMeIn Free from anywhere, on the Internet. The advantage of using the VGA cable is picture quality. The advantage of LogMeIn Free is it is free and universally available from any browser.
